ASTILUDIO (FLAG GAMES)

The Astiludio, whose origins date back to 1406, is the annual event that brings together in Volterra groups from all over Italy for the flag games. The winners are awarded the Bravìo, the award created in alabaster by artists of Volterra. The first Sunday of September at 15:15 exact all the bells of the districts ring simultaneously and it is at that moment that the four marches arriving from as many gates of the medieval town head to the square to begin the tournament.
